Why Suriya
What We Offer That Others Often Don't
Specialist scope, transparent communication, and work that's documented from start to finish — these aren't extras at Suriya. They're how we operate.

Six Things Worth Knowing
A brief summary of what shapes the Suriya experience — before we go into more detail below.
Mechanical Movements Only
We work exclusively on hand-wound and automatic movements. That scope allows genuine depth of knowledge.
Written Service Records
Every completed service includes a written summary of findings, work performed, and timing results.
Nothing Irreversible Without You
On restoration work, cosmetic or parts decisions aren't made unilaterally. We ask first.
Caliber-Matched Lubricants
Lubricants are selected per movement specification, sourced from recognized horology suppliers — not approximated.
Fixed Starting Prices
Published prices are starting points, not estimates. Changes are discussed with you before any additional work proceeds.
Explained, Not Just Delivered
We take time to explain what was found and what was done — in plain language, not watchmaker shorthand.
In Depth
Each Benefit, Explained
Professional Expertise
The founder's training spanned over a decade, including time with independent watchmakers outside Thailand. That foundation informs every service decision at Suriya — from how we approach a neglected movement to how we handle a vintage piece with original parts.
Our scope is intentionally narrow. Working only with mechanical movements means we don't spread our knowledge across every watch category. The tradeoff is genuine depth where we do operate.
- Founder trained in Bangkok, Switzerland, and Japan
- Specialist in hand-wound and automatic calibers
- Experience with vintage and collector-grade pieces
- Ongoing professional development within the field
- Ultrasonic cleaning equipment for movement parts
- Multi-position timing machine for regulation
- Wet/dry pressure tester for water resistance verification
- Supplier-sourced lubricants matched to manufacturer specs
Tools & Methods
The quality of work depends partly on the quality of equipment. We use professional-grade tools for cleaning, timing, and pressure testing — not because they're impressive to list, but because shortcuts in these areas show up later in a watch's performance.
Lubricants in particular are an area where we're careful. The wrong oil in the wrong place degrades quickly and can cause wear. We source these specifically and select them per caliber.
Client Communication
We try to make the service process as clear as possible. That means an honest initial assessment, a realistic timeframe, and a prompt message if something comes up mid-service rather than a surprise at collection.
For restoration work, communication is more frequent — we check in whenever a decision needs your input. Some clients appreciate regular updates; others prefer to be contacted only when something requires their approval. We adapt to your preference.
- Pre-service assessment with plain-language explanation
- Realistic timeframes, communicated upfront
- Prompt notification if timeline changes
- Written summary provided at collection
- Published starting prices for each service
- No additional work without prior approval
- Pricing in Thai Baht, consistent and transparent
- No hidden handling or assessment fees
Transparent Pricing
Our service prices are published and reflect the starting point for each type of work. If assessment reveals something that would affect the final cost — a worn part that needs replacement, for instance — we discuss it with you before proceeding.
There's no assessment fee, and no pressure to proceed if the quote isn't right for you. We'd rather you make an informed decision than feel committed to something you weren't expecting.
Comparison
Suriya vs. Typical Repair Services
A straightforward comparison — not to criticise others, but to be clear about what we offer.
What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive Features of Working With Suriya
Photographic Restoration Logs
For collector-level restorations, we photograph key stages — before disassembly, after cleaning, before reassembly. This gives you a visual record of the work and the condition in which the movement was found.
Condition Assessment at Drop-Off
We record the external condition of every piece when it arrives — existing scratches, marks on the crystal, any prior repairs we can see. This becomes part of the service record and protects both parties.
No-Obligation Initial Assessment
Bring your watch in and we'll take a look and tell you what we see — without charging for the assessment, and without any expectation that you'll proceed. Some people just want an informed opinion.
Maintenance Guidance at Collection
When you collect your watch, we take a few minutes to discuss care — how often to consider servicing, water resistance limits, storage considerations. Practical things, not a sales pitch for the next visit.
